How would you describe the culture of UrbanBound?

We have a family culture that embodies the work hard/play hard mentality. When Jeff and I started UrbanBound, we wanted to create a culture of people that care not only about what they’re doing, but also about one another. One of our core values is to create WOW moments whenever possible, and it’s amazing to see that carry over from our customer relationships into our relationships with one another. We are not a company with silos that people aimlessly fill - we work together because we believe that collaboration is the only way to push the envelope to its fullest potential, breaking through the boundaries of what the world is comfortable with. We strive to bring in the viewpoints of people that see the world from different perspectives. Everyone here truly believes that if there’s a will, there’s a way, and we all know that we can find a solution to any given obstacle. We won’t give up until we find it.

AS A CO-FOUNDER AND CEO, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE LOOKING OUT YOUR OFFICE DOOR EVERY DAY?

I want to see proof that we are continuing to add people to this company who think big picture and are genuinely interested in the pursuit of refining the solutions we’ve put in place for our customers. I want everyone to look to their right and left and see an A-player. I want to see a group of people that is constantly thinking about better ways to enhance the business, willing to jump in and take charge at any given moment. Lastly, I want to see people who are empathetic. Everything we do impacts our customers, so we built our culture on creating a place where people embody empathy - it needs to be innate. Having the ability to see the context of how your work impacts our customers is a quality we strive to find in each of our hires.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY THE MANAGEMENT STYLE IS LIKE AT URBANBOUND?

We are not big on micromanaging. At the beginning of each quarter, we set clear goals and we expect teams to reach them. Everyone is held accountable and knows what they are accountable for - we are a very transparent company.

WHAT GETS YOU EXCITED ABOUT COMING INTO WORK EVERY DAY?

It’s really exciting to watch someone come in here not knowing much about our industry, and then watch them develop, not only a substantial knowledge of the industry, but a genuine interest as well. It doesn’t take long for our new hires to become inspired by how truly disruptive the product we’re building is.
